Fathersday Special - falconry Workshop with BBQ

Fathersday Special - Flying with birds of prey was a great day for everyone even though some did have some trouble with the falconers knot. After the falconry workshop it was time to share the experiences with the family during the BBQ.

Falconcrest Birds Of Prey Park - grounds and surroundings

Images of the Falconcrest estate grounds and surroundings, these images were taken shortly before the opening of the park to the public.
It shows 'Phase 1' of the park, where the extention of the park is still ongoing. This is a "birds eye" view into the initial layout of the birds of prey park.

Falconcrest Education - Helicon Educational Presentation (onsite)

Falconcrest was invited to show and share educational information about birds of prey. The falconers selected a variety of birds of prey suitable for a falconry demonstration as well as for display. Besides a cold and rainy day, the hothouse was the perfect place for birds and students to get better aquanted. While the falconers flew with the birds of prey, Frans explained to the students about the birds of prey, their traits and habbits and other interesting facts. After this the students were allowed to hold a bird of prey on the gauntlet is they dared. It was great experience for all.

Falconcrest - Falconry, Hunting and Nature Fair

Pictures take during the two day falconry, hunting and nature fair held at the Falconcrest Birds Of Prey park in Eindhoven.
This time the theme for this fair was 'Arabia' and the falconry was enriched with thoroughbred arabian steeds, saluki races and even bellydancers.
Their was something for everyone, spectacular birds of prey demonstrations, stands with falconry equipment and tools, and also for the ladies and children there was plenty to do and see.
With special thanks to the Eindhoven municipality for their excellent service and support during these fine days.

Owls - Snow Owls

The Falconcrest snow owls, besides the breeding programs, the snow owls are also flown during birds of prey demonstartions and are also part of the falconry training program.
Snow owls are very impressive to see but also extrememly stubborn and always remain a challenge for the falconer.
Most of the snow owl images have been taken during birds of prey demonstations.

Owls - Little Owls

The Falconcrest little owls, besides the birds of prey breeding programs, the little owls are also on display and form part of the falconry training program.
You will also see them during birds of prey demonstrations.
These cute little owls are very apt hunters and although they look cute and cuddly they remain wild birds of prey and should be treated accordingly.

Owls - Eagle Owl

Selected photographs of one of the Eagle Owls that resides at Falconcrest.
This owl is called 'Bubo' and prefers to watch what is happening in the park from a short distance.
She loves her handlers, but strangers should steer clear of her, she tends to hiss and puff at strangers.

Winter falconry visits to Falconcrest, and yes, it was very cold, even if the sun did shine sometines.
The falconry demonstration was real exciting and the cold was soon forgotten.
